Volunteers helping lakhs prove they’re Indian

The volunteers belong to two NGOs and their main job is to help those who did not make it to the National Register of Citizens (NRC) file their claims by the December 31 deadline. Of 40.7 lakh who were left out of the NRC, only 14.3 lakh have filed for inclusion till now. The biggest hurdles have been illiteracy and the burden of paperwork.
